I got my "ticket" in 1976 and am still at sea sailing as Chief Electrician/E.T.O. now aged 54. Off to Egypt on the 15th of this month. What happened to our our great fleet of trawlers and merchant ships. I am on a 20,650 ton pipe lay and construction vessel the C-Master. So sad. I was best man for for a grat Hull man, Ron Boughgen ex Southella and many more Marrs ships. I am thinking of building the Nordkap, I have to do a kit as time is short on my leave. I have built though a seven and a quarter inch railway, with a steam loco and a petrol hydraulic engine. It would be nice to have plans for the Navena or one of a big side trawler. Enjoyed your photographs. Mel. Jamieson. |

During the 1939/45 War she was designated HMT B5. as a troopship. I travelled to Durban on her via North Africa and Brazil from Liverpool, in October/December 1942. The voyage took five weeks and was the convoy Commodore's flagship. It must have been a most comfortable ship to take passage in before and after that war. As a contrast have since flown out to Capetown in eleven hours. Best Wishes in your endeavours. |

Still have the custom made boiler, however I'll probably convert to electric. Also built a 60" model of the liner Stockhol;m from scratch several years ago - she in poor shape now though. First time at the site - looks great. Get to the UK quite frequently on business. |

This will be a static display model so no RC equipment will be required. I am also planning to build a 1:32 scale, 1910 - 1920's diorama of a small passenger ship at Ellis Island in New York Harbor as its steerage occupants disembark the vessel. A completed, model of a small, turn-of-the-century passenger vessel or a freighter with passenger accomidations are also items I am seeking for this particular static display model. If completed models are not available, information in regard to 1:32 scale kits would also be greatly appriciated. Please contact me at your earliest convenience at my email address: dynamicdioramas@aol.com if you have information you would like share in regard to the above ship model requests. I assume this is where you sail. If I can explain, I was born and bred in Hull, am 73 and left Hull in 1956; still have a brother in law living there. I am chairman of the Rugeley Power Station Model Boat Club near Lichfield. We have nearly 30 members and sail on a large lake next to the social club and a very good bar!! As a boy I watched the men sailing their large (to me) yachts on the pond and in the '50s in the winter when not flying, sailed diesel powered boats on the pond (no radio in those days). Enjoyed your site; come and seeus if you are ever in the Midlands. Regards, brian rogers. |
