It is 40in. overall length and 13in. beam, flat bottomed , plank on frame and is clinker built. The full sized ships were about 70ft long , so the scale is 1/20th.I stained the sail cloth and hull with creosote to create an aroma of tar as would have been used along with moss for caulking the planks. see video clip below for more info email

It's a 36 R yacht Nylet plan designed by Frank Parsons from about 1986. Ply hull and deck, alloy mast and booms and it has a sail arm servo but should be fitted with a sail winch. The bow bumper is cut from a flip flop and the piece on top of the mast is from a shower soap tray. Not built quite to plan but it's an ongoing project ( as they all are ) Wisp sizes in imperial and they are 36" long, 9" beam, 11" deck to keel and a mast length of 52". The total weight is about 6 1/2 lbs for more info email

Must be the cheapest working sailer afloat? made from two POP Bottles!
The hull was made from f/glass. 42" x 12" beam. My first sailor still some detail to Finnish but sails very well. for any more information E-mail stan@hullmodelboatgroup.co.uk

The hull is solid ,closed cell, blue polystyrene to make it unsinkable. The outriggers have a plywood sandwhich construction for maximum strength and lightness. It has been externally papered with small patches of newspaper that have been glued on with pva. and then painted over.

Scratch built from NEWSPAPERS and Sails Very Well
Scratch Built Fishing Sailers. He has taken one year to finish one vessel with such craftsmanship. All is hulls are plank on frame normally double planked for strength. I have had the pleasure to see is last three models completed.
Pond Sailer Scratch Built.
This is a Robbe 'Topcat' catamaran that was launched in 1991 but is now discontinued. She is 50" long and carries a substantial sail area. She has incredible acceleration and is extremely fast and responsive but suffers like all cats when turning, gybing being the preferred method. I have made many alterations to the original plan adding independent sail control and a true centre board. The original design has a swinging self righting keel- but this destabilized the boat and created too much drag. She may now capsize and turn turtle, but the overall sailing experience has been enhanced. I am at the moment working on an idea for sliding ballast to emulate the movement of a crew- this should improve performance when sailed on one hull and will hopefully lead to higher speeds!
This is a 6ft. 10" 'A' class hull of Bill Daniel's 'Amethyst'. I initially made a plank on frame, mahogany hull several years ago before my arthritis stopped my woodworking days. I still have this hull and from it I took a fibreglass mould. These boats are very graceful sailers in all conditions and are very easy on the nerves.

A new Marblehead named Mustard, scamp design, built by Squire Kay. She really sails well.

which is a one metre class boat. The hull is wooden made by the 'plank on frame' method. There are no internal frames in the finished hull and it just relies on the edge to edge contact of each plank. This is called a monocoque construction and it makes the boat very light and speedy.

She's a Sea Scamp Marblehead She's a real pleasure to sail giving a good turn of speed with some nifty acceleration! She handles well in all conditions and is beautifully balanced but is rather susceptible to entanglement from the dreaded weed due to having a deep keel (17 inch approx.). Shamrock shares the same maker, and hull design as 'Mustard' (owned by my Father). Both boats are evenly matched which makes for some interesting competition!
This barge is 30" long and is based on a Humber sloop barge called the 'Amy Howson' .She has a fibreglass hull and uses a centre board keel to allow her to have a yacht like sailing performance. The keel is held in place by a pin which can be removed to allow the barge to be displayed as she originally was designed.
